Brilliant Practice Amp & App

The Positive Grid Spark Amp is really great for practice (and probably even suitable for a small intimate gig session). The Spark App adds yet another dimension. Bringing the 1,000’s of tone selections right at the touch of the screen. With the ability to download other user’s tones from the ‘ToneCloud’, as well as saving your own creations to your device, means you have everything (well… almost!) you need, at your fingertips. I’ve owned a fair few ‘Practice Amps’ over the years. This one is by far the best.

People need to learn how to dial in pedals

Everything was great until the most recent update then my tones all reverted back to the original setting where people are using far too much gain or not enough volume on a clean amp then the set the noise gate far too aggressive to combat the gain but instead that just kills the note before it has rang out, but in the recent update i’ve noticed more clipping on my spark go and in the searches for tones on the cloud it prioritises irrelevant meta data e.g search for appetite for destructon and it will return everything with the word for in it something which most search engines ignore, and in the case i got acoustic for dave in the top 5, My hardware preset tones have changed too spark has done something but a lot of my regular tones sound different. Can’t wait to get round to plugging in my Marshall Silver Jubilee in again.

Good amp, app a nightmare

Received amp today after a 6 month wait. App downloaded and I’ve spent more time rebooting it and resyncing the Bluetooth than I have using it. It’ll crash if you go from Apple iTunes to the preset tones. I get prompted to connect to the amp frequently. Just changing a song on iTunes can mean having to do the reconnect again and it’s hit and miss. Oh yeah. Plugged headphones in to get some decent volume and this didn’t mute the speakers. Just woke the neighbourhood up because I had my studio speakers on my ears and wasn’t aware the main speaker was playing at the same time. Had to switch amp on and off again and yup, Bluetooth then wouldn’t reconnect. On and off again. Had to restart the app. Now it’s worked for 20 mins straight so fingers crossed. As other reviewers have written, really glitchy. Feeling a little deflated.
